For those who have become disillusioned by the polls which indicate an imminent Obama victory, I hope to provide a little perspective. We must remember that America is not a Catholic Nation. As Fr. John Hardon, S.J. used to say "America is a thoroughly Protestant Nation". At the outset, our founding fathers denied Christ's reign and sovereignty by rejecting the notion that Christ established a Church that possessed authority over His followers. Pope St. Pius X stated: "That the State must be separated from the Church is a thesis absolutely false, a most pernicious error."

But what is the result of this separation? Today, we not only ignore God's commands, but we also deny God what He is due--worship in accordance with His will, and obedience to His Church. Liberty, which is based upon truth, has been replaced by license and licentiousness where the spirit of fornication and adultery dominates-- the product of which is the slaughter of innocents for the sake of convenience. The best we can do as a nation is to elect a leader who will confront the
effect of our wicked and adulterous culture --and reduce abortions. There are, however, no electable leaders who perceive or understand the inherent failures of the notion of separation of Church and State.

But the the most lamentable part of an Obama victory is that it would be due to those who falsely claim to be Catholics but are instead "Americanists". We have all heard the mantra---
"I consider myself a Catholic but the church has no right to tell me..." The Protestant spirit of "individual religion" has permeated Catholics in the form of "Americanism". Americanism was condemned by Pope Leo in TESTEM BENEVOLENTIAE NOSTRAE in 1899. Americanism denies the influence of Christ and His Church in the social sphere and ultimately in one's personal life.

According to Father Rory Conley, the heresy of Americanism has triumphed over the Roman Catholic Church in America...
"There's not a dime's worth of difference between Catholics and their fellow Americans now in moral outlook or religious practice. We fornicate at the same rate. We divorce at the same rate. We abort our children at the same rate. We are materially rich and so, in true chauvinistic fashion, we claim favored-nation status before the Lord."

The error of Americanism always leads to the public denial of Christ the King and ultimately to the destruction of society since there can never be a true peace without Christ, the Prince of Peace.

Pope St. Pius X stated:
"We must repeat with the utmost energy in these times of social and intellectual anarchy when everyone takes upon himself to teach as a teacher and lawmaker - the City cannot be built otherwise than as God has built it; society cannot be set up unless the Church lays the foundations and supervises the work; no, civilization is not something yet to be found, nor is the new City to be built on hazy notions; it has been in existence and still is: it is Christian civilization, it is the Catholic City. It has only to be set up and restored continually against the unremitting attacks of insane dreamers, rebels and miscreants." Nostre charge apostolique.

Errors which are born of protesting spirits have caused America to spiral to the point where we are now vulnerable to the reign of leaders such as Obama-- the insane dreamer with hazy notions who seeks to change the world. God have mercy.
