"THE PERFECT CHURCH FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T"---THE AGE OF CHURCHES THAT TICKLE THE EARS
Randy and Paula White are a husband wife team of pastors who attracted tens of thousands to Without Walls International Church--a 22,000 member mega-church. The White's built their multi-million dollar evangelical empire by offering what they called "the perfect church, for those who aren't."
"[T]he perfect church for those who aren't" message catapulted Paula White to international stardom as a televangelist and author.
But at Thursday night's service, they announced plans to end their 18-year marriage.
Both have been divorced before.
"Recently...the Whites have dealt with controversy surrounding questionable business dealings."
"The couple shares a $2 million dollar home on Bayshore Boulevard, along with a private jet. Some say the pastors have been spending more time apart as they buy property and pursue ministries elsewhere. Paula White owns a Trump Towers condo in New York City and a home in San Antonio. Randy White is reportedly leasing property in Malibu."
We are most certainly living in an age of churches that "tickle the ears". Catchy slogans are all the rage in many evangelical churches today. These modern churches require no lifestyle changes and have seemingly abandoned any pretense at holiness. The gospels are obscured so that worldliness and self-will is fortified over holiness and God's will. Unfortunately, there is not a short supply of "teachers" who are willing to profit from assuaging the consciences of those who prefer their sin to the commands of God. How far has modern Christianity come and how much further will this lunacy extend?
